Shelter News Update

Published: August 14, 2013

We have had an extraordinary number of animals turned in to us this year, but we are very proud of ourselves in keeping up with this influx. AND, more importantly, in working diligently to find new homes. We recently received some flattering statistics from Science Diet who monitors adoptions across the U.S. We are head and shoulders above the national average of shelters finding homes for their pets rather than euthanizing them! Please stop in an congratulate my hard-working staff if you have an opportunity and thank them for making this great effort. This year we also experienced a stolen dog! It was a beautiful little black poodle. With your help and that of our local radio stations (Willie 103.5, WRSW, the Fan) and the Times Union newspaper we were able to recover the dog and find the perpetrators! What a happy day it was when we returned the cute little tyke to its rightful owners! I hope you will consider attending our Fur Ball this year. It is going to be an extra-special event with our addition of "The Warsminster Dog and Cat Show" as part of the activities. You are going to love it. Everything will be the same which includes all the fabulous food, the silent auction with those amazing gifts, a live auction for some really special big ticket items, music, and even a pet agility show by the 4-H kids! What is even better, unlike many other not-for-profits, we are keeping the cost to attend at a reasonable price. You can attend for only $30 if you call and make your reservation in advance! It will be $35 at the door, but what a bargain and yet you will also help the Animals of the Animal Welfare League. I hope to see you there! Please call 574-27-3008 as soon as possible, so we can count your name and plan your attendance! Thanks, have a wonderful rest of the summer and hope to see you September 28 at 6pm at the Toyota Dealership on North 15 (across from Wal-Mart) for our FABULOUS FUR BALL! (by the way dressy casual attire is perfectly fine...we want you to be comfortable!) Darla McCammon
